50 Years of Dibiesse: Our Story Becomes a Performance
Dibiesse celebrated fifty years in business with an event dedicated to the people who have shared and contributed to its history.
To tell this story, we chose not to start with our kitchens, but with the company itself: its origins, its work, its people and the relationships that have accompanied its evolution.
The result was an original performance created specifically for Dibiesse, combining theatre, dance, music and circus arts to transform key moments and themes from the company’s history into a series of scenes.
Fifty years told through four acts
Actor Davide Dolores guided guests through the evening as a storyteller, retracing fifty years of Dibiesse through words, music and interaction with the audience.
Around him, performances by Pensando Danza Ballet Studio and artists from Circo Patuf and Acqualta Teatro brought the different parts of the story to life.
The performance was structured around four acts: Origins, Distinctive Features, People, and Reflections.
The origins: a story that begins with trust
The first act began with a simple gesture: at the end of the choreography, a dancer let herself fall into the actor’s arms.
That gesture introduced the first theme of the story: trust.
The trust required to start a business, but also the trust built over time with the local community, employees, suppliers and the company’s first customers.
It was a way of returning to the origins of Dibiesse without simply presenting a sequence of dates, focusing instead on one of the elements that has accompanied the company throughout its growth.
A table to tell the story of the kitchen
In the second act, the scene changed.
The dancers set a table for three and the storyteller, wearing the mask of Arlecchino, transformed everyday objects and gestures into elements of the narrative.
The sound of a piece of cutlery against a glass became the starting point for talking about design, materials, conviviality and the way a kitchen is experienced.
Because designing a kitchen means creating a functional space, but also considering what will happen within it: cooking, meeting, talking and spending time together.
A company made of people
The third act was dedicated to the people who work at Dibiesse.
It began with an apparently simple statement: “A company is not made of walls alone, but of people.”
The story explored the relationship between the company and its employees through the words of Luigi De Biasi, before turning to one of the elements represented in the Dibiesse logo: three stylised figures moving in the same direction.
The logo has evolved graphically over the company’s fifty-year history, but its meaning has remained the same: people working together towards a shared goal.
Dance translated this idea into movement, bringing the theme of collaboration onto the stage.
From an idea to a kitchen
The final act unfolded during dinner and brought the story back to Dibiesse’s everyday work.
A project begins with an idea. It is developed and assessed, passes through different people, tools and areas of expertise, and finally enters production.
Moving among the tables and interacting directly with the guests, the storyteller retraced this process: from the initial idea to its realisation inside the Dibiesse factory.
The story of fifty years therefore ended in the present, returning to the place where projects take shape every day.
1973–2023: fifty years of Dibiesse
Rather than presenting the history of Dibiesse as a chronology, the performance explored the people, production, design, relationships and kitchens that have shaped the company.
Each became part of a narrative interpreted through different artistic languages.
A way of celebrating fifty years in business by looking at the history of Dibiesse through the elements that have shaped it and continue to define it today.
